If you are using the Search field rather than the Drug field, and type !am, you will get exactly what you are proposing if you have all of those doses for amoxicillin in your favs. You will also get any other drug in your favs' that starts with am. The whole idea of the ribbon icon is to be able to save new stuff to favs in one click so it's easy to add new drugs/sigs with one click.
I'm thinking that using ! is a mistake .. because it requires the shift key. Perhaps the backtick ( ` ) is better as it does not .. or perhaps check for any non alphanumeric ?
