I found a post indicating how to append the patient DOB to the directory that Synapse creates (below for reference), but I'd like to append the Synapse-generated patient ID, as it is, by definition, unique, and eliminates the issue with having two identically named patients with the same date of birth. Is this possible? What variables are possible in the Suffix field? Adding a Synapse ID to the directory is an interesting idea and would effectively solve the problem you pose. Of course, having two identically named patients with the same date of birth seems almost impossible I have 4 duplicate names out of 1500. I do this. I add the patient's year of birth to his first name. Taylor, Gary1964 Taylor, Gary1953 It's kind of ugly but it works for me (and the four patients).
Not impossible .. just highly improbable which is why I didn't bother to implement this feature initially. But I guess there might be some parents who have twins who name their kids the first name the same ... and distinguish by their second names ...
