don't understand.

It's the age of the patient at the time of the last encounter .. which is usually today if you are filling in forms for them

age at last encounter is something else ( a synapse only feature )

eg. You type "I: " and it immediately gets expanded to "Investigations: " if you are using the default macros.txt file.

PS: don't use recursive macros ie.

Neck: neck: supple and no nodes

is no good because when you type neck:, it will get expanded to neck: supple and no nodes, but when it is saved, the neck: will be expanded again!
