I'll align the context menu under the bottom left corner of the field for the next version.

All the default templates in Synapse are in A4 format. If you wish to use Letter paper instead ( as I guess most of you would ), then you need to change the template type from A4 to Letter.

So, at the top of each template is a line like this
and you would change that to
But there is more to do. Because A4 is 50 points longer than Letter paper, if you just change the paper type, everything will be too high on the page ( because the paper is now shorter, and the 0x0 point is at the bottom left in PostScript. ) So, you would have to change all the coordinates by reducing the Y values by 50.

B40.4 now has a button that will do the conversion for you. It will change A4 to Letter, and back again. Give it a go, and report any problems. It's found on the Postscript templates page under the actual template.

    <h2>R213B40.6 21st Mar 2008 Windows</h2>

    • The new compiler was causing problems with invoking external
windows applications. Should now be fixed. Have checked the following:
      • Lame ( mp3 encoder )
      • Express Scribe ( dictation playback )
      • ImageMagick ( turn PDFs into JPG )
      • PSViewer ( for viewing postscript files such as growth, and scripts )
      • PDF viewer
      • Windows Explorer ( the [Xplr] button )
      • Word
      • Paperport
    • function keys now change without having to restart Synapse after making some changes.
Please test as unless there are any problems, this is to be released as final R213.

    • Linux Firebird servers do not return the correct value for decimal and numeric fields
    • This update converts the age field in the Diagnoses table to
float. If you are running Firebird 1.5 or an old ODBC driver, it may
not convert but is not a worry as it is only to allow a Synapse server
running under windows to use a Linux Firebird server.
    • Backup your database using Gbak before you use this update

tab. This closes down all the active windows and you have to enter

This is a possible future enhancement. But you might have an open template, or prescription etc, in the open consult and all those would be lost.

So, for this current release I'm asking users to close those windows down first.

    • All
printing is now "Local PDF" - there is no more "Server PDF". This is
to facilitate the use of EPS based signatures for prescriptions and
      requests
    • A log tab has been added so that you can review informational messages

Currently if you wish to use an EPS image in your prescriptions ( such as a signature or graphic ) then you had to use the fax applet ( postscript preview ). Using the Server PDF button with an EPS would silently disconnect the client from the server. With this update all printing is local PDF with the image being uploaded to the server for an electronic trail.

See this howto on adding a signature image to your prescriptions/requests.

This will change again shortly so that the signature will be stored on the server and will not need to be stored locally on each client.

    • Would add an EPS on the signature line in the default prescription template

    • You now have the option to include a EPS signature on
prescriptions, requests, and consults. You can tick a checkbox in the
      printer dialog box

You need to have installed an EPS signature first. The prescription and requests should always work as the signature always appears at the same place. But for the consults, the signature floats under the text and so can be problematic if near the bottom of the page. An improved algorithm will follow.
