Jerry and I have been doing some trials to see if using Acrobat outside of the browser is both faster and easier to use than using Acrobat as a browser plugin. The problem of using Acrobat outside the browser is that it no longer understands text/html responses, and so I have to change the web portal to send back a PDF response after submitting an acrobat form. There are also tighter security restrictions with loading xfdf data into Acrobat Reader than the Acrobat plugin .. but it looks doable. And it is faster ...
