Sphinx is an open source full text engine that can be used to query large text objects in mysql, and postgresql. There is a modification that allows it to be used also with Firebird. See http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=files&id=sphinx There are php, perl, ruby, java and some other clients but no published Rebol clients so far. However, the sphinx guys have just implemented the Mysql binary protocol which may mean i can use a Rebol mysql client to connect ... What are the implications? Well, a free text search engine means we can search on encounter text looking for words in close proximity etc. I'll update once I determine if this is going to be feasible or not.
I've seen that software used for large MySQL vB sites to speed up querying. It seems cool but unless it solves a current need, should we continue wrapping up current developments ? We already have more features than any EMR out there under 30,000.
Not really ! or you need help tagging ! There would be some overlap, yes. I do like the idea for filtering on Consult info !
