I used F6 to get a code, tried to paste into superbill, but I got "This functionality is not currently available within this context." What did I miss?
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill The intent was that ICD9s be added to diagnoses .. and from there enter into superbill. So, you would bring up the diagnoses popup, add the diagnosis and icd9. Then bring up the superbill and allocate.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill I tried the "Diagnoses" tab and Diagnoses popup from "Manage Diagnoses", used F6 to bringup ICD9 search window, [paste] button gives me the same message in both windows. How do you enter a diagnoses and ICD9 code then? Type manually? How to get codes other than the 1500 common ones? The superbill for the US user needs more work. For specialists, E/M (Evaluation and Management)service coding system is like this: Outpatient new: code 99201 - 99205 (minimal, problem focused 10 min to comprehensive 60 min) Outpatient established: code 99211 - 99215 Outpatient consultation: 99241 - 99245 There is detailed requirement of documentation for each level of service. Codes for consultations (must have a refering physician)are different from new patient. Graham I can give you detailed description of each level and hopefully you can have a superbill customized for US users.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill This is really how it works! 1. For a diagnosis to appear in the superbill, it should be in the current diagnoses list. So, you can double click on a diagnosis in the superbill and have it appear in the right hand column. 2. The alternative is, during the consult, you assess the patient having xyz complaint. You then bring up an assessment template, click on the "Lookup" button, select a diagnosis, click the save button, and it gets pasted into the note as well as the superbill. Sure ... please send me detailed information on the superbill documentation. How to get codes other than 1500 common ones? In the diagnosis popup, there is a Firefox icon. Put the diagnosis you're looking for in the Dx field, and then click on the Firefox icon. This brings up a screen where you can trigger a chickenfoot script to search any of the online ICD9 lookup engines.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill Why this method doesn't paste the diagnoses into diagnoses popup and diagnoses tab? How do you add a code in the diagnoses tab then? manually? For specialists, this 1500 list is not very useful. Instead of chickenfoot script and online lookup (I haven't found a good free lookup engine, tried a few, couldn't come up with codes that are relavant to me), is it possible to have user build their own list, e.g. as a table on the server or edit their own icd9.r? Since each user will have only limited number of commonly used codes, performance should not be an issue. Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill Normally to enter a diagnosis into the diagnoses popup/tab, you type the diagnosis in the Dx field and hit enter. A window pops up with possible choices. Select one, and the icd9/diagnosis is pasted back. The 1500 list is for FPs, and not specialists as you have discovered. I guess the icd9.r file could be altered to suit yourself. Or, I could write a utility to parse a text file to create the icd9.r file. Or, possibly, you could wipe the data in the readcodes table on the server, and replace them with icd9 codes instead. I'll have to look at the superbill information later on to digest what it means.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill I am learning ICD9 and E/M coding lately and going over the AAN coding course material. Graham, Any plan of adding more options for the US users? I am revising our paper superbill and will start to make some macros and templates to suit different level of services needs. Would be nice if I can use Synapse superbill instead. I can provide information you need, at least for us specialists.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill Graham has been specifically wanting more information on this topic, it's hard to come by.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill I have very specific instructions related to my specialty, e.g. how many bullets required in the notes to qualify for a specific level. Many big company EMRs advertise the ability of analysing the note to give a recommended code. I certainly hope this can be done in Synapse. But at least, there should be the option of using the US coding system (the one I outline above)to manually select a code for the superbill.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill One major problem here is that to satisfy these auto E&M coders, you have to click one million times to get the bullets you need.
Re: Paste ICD9 code into superbill Yes. Actually, if you use a template, it's actually not that bad. For example, a comprehensive neurological single system exam only requires 23 bullets - I just made a macro a couple days ago to include all these bullets for my normal exam fornew patients, it's a fairly short exam part surprisingly.
