Whoa ... slow down their partner.

What are the implications of having this size for smaller VGA devices running Synapse in reduced mode ?

I just checked and I have either all or almost all of my PCs running 1024 x 768.

I think we need to think about the implications before increasing the minimum screen resolution.

I guess they'll use GUI size 2 then.

:) I hope that's possible. Of course, it likely isn't as important things are going to be too small. Yet on every patient screen for every patient at all times, will be the world's largest shortcut menus.

I use the cache table *all* the time to switch between patients.

My first iteration allowed the [?] to remove and add the right shortcut menu dynamically .. but unfortunately I struck resizing issues.

Once that is solved, it'll be back again.

Why exactly are you going back and forth to patients that have already left ?

I don't have any objection of having a "Recent Patients" where you can toggle to recent patients.

I never use it myself. At the end of a typical day my list is 80 patients long. Many times it was 150+.

This could be just as functional with a popup.

I just tested on 1024x768 .. the short cut menu on the right only just appears. I guess I restricted the screen size somewhere to take into account the screen resolution.

But ... the encounter editor will be a problem as it only partially now shows the right hand menus.

So, at present, docs will have to use 1280x1024 if they want to continue using GUI mode 3, but non clinical staff are fine.

We specialists write letters on each of our patients. If we're in the middle of writing a letter ... and we need to switch to another patient to deal with a phone call etc.

A popup with "Last 5 patients" would more than suffice vs. wasting prime screen real estate.

The other thing is that the new right hand short cut menu is likely to be useful for those on tablets ... no more function keys

So the new preferred screen resolution going forward will be 1280 x 1024 ?

This must be from an unreleased beta. b21 doesn't have this option.

    <h2>R214B22 for Windows</h2>

    • New library image management
    • New view of existing encounters
    • Preferences to show dictation and vitals panels
    • Completed context macros
    • Note, there are some bugs in the resizing of the new encounters tab
    • And only GUI size 4 tested so far
    • Needs latest beta server (R84B7)
This beta has large numbers of gui changes so needs a fair bit of testing. The bugs in the resizing will be dealt with in due course.

If enough people prefer to use the old way of looking at encounters, I'll create a preference for it ... in the meantime just use the "Classic"/"Modern" buttons to switch between the two views.

Note, that the "less more" radio buttons do nothing at present.

In order to get Skype SMS working on XP, and Skype dialing working on Vista, I have had to recode all the COM interfaces to every third party application that Synapse can use.
I have tested with all except Paperport as I no longer have that application installed.

Note that Synapse will still crash if you try Skype SMS under Vista.

There are 4 SMS interfaces provided. To use one of these, you need to setup an account with one of them, and purchase some credits. Or, if you use Skype, then have credits available. Once you have all the details, then enter them in the appropriate tab ( Settings/User/SMS ) and save as per the tab button. This will then make this SMS provider available to all users on your Synapse network. The others only need to select the provider and save the preference. Only the admin can setup the SMS settings.

If you wish to use Red Oxygen, or Messaging Media, you will need to install a DLL. Instructions to follow.

Messaging Media have a function to turn text SMS into voice .. but that is not working yet. It only applies to NZ and Australia so far though.

Skype : if you use SMS, you have to tell Skype to allow Synapse to interface. Click on "allow/deny" when the message comes up, and then you can click on the two double arrows to manage it. This has to be done each time you upgrade Synapse as Skype will know it has changed.

Adding and editing an encounter is now back to 3 clicks as before ... as the new encounter you create is now opened in preview mode exposing the "Edit" button.

Editing tags will no longer close the current encounter down.

    <h2>R214B24 for Windows</h2>
    • New physician dashboard - will eventually replace the Inbox
    • Only the results panel is nearly fully functional ... the others are display only
    • The Encounter preview area is now view only - no editing to prevent confusion.
<h2>This is really an alpha version ... most of the functionality of the new physician dashboard has yet to be done. The resizing also has issues outside the default window size.
