Ok, the new progress notes editor demands some attention to allergies. Currently we have 3 types of drugs, C for current, O for old, and T for temp. I am going to split O to D for discontinued, and A for allergy. This is going to take a lot of work ... and when you review an existing patient, I will have to ask you to categorize the O drugs. The other problem is when you add an allergy as a class ... eg. beta-blockers. There's no easy way to trap that unless you name all the beta-blockers. So, I am considering two options. Either bring up a list of all allergies at the time of starting a new drug, or, printing all drug allergies on each prescription so at least the pharmacist will notice!
Above: previous Musings on this topic. Probably 2 sections is enough. I would like to be able to display a short "Details" for the Allergy section. I will put stuff like I would like these Allergy "Details" to be quite easily outputted to referral letters, etc. Ideally visible in the Synapse GUI.
Can you make a mockup of what the Allergy section might look like ? I made an attempt at a few designs here
Most of the allergies I see are really side effects. So, I'm not going to create sub classes of this ... just make them all "allergies".
Don't you want to see a nice delineation of Current Drugs Episodic Drugs Allergies Discontinued Drugs ?
Anyone played yet with the allergies editor for build 33? Now, in the prescribing applet, I can now filter on the old meds to now show temp, discontinued, and allergies. Need a way still to move old drugs which are allergies to the allergy class. Since you can now show temp, you can also dispense from temp, and should be able to add to temp.
I see it, but only in the detailed SOAP note section. I think adding allergies via the popup is more intuitive. Most allergies I record are not associated with a visit. Most are New Patients recording historical allergies. Many others are patients in hospital and go back to the office to record it. Others are After Hours Rashes and I pull the Reaction from the Walk in Clinic visit. Are you planning on making Current Medications a prescribing Applet to correspond with the Add Allergies Applet?
