I use Acronis True Image to Backup computers. It is very easy. However, outsourcing your backups is agrand idea, for most people. Full Proof backing up of database data is not for the hobbyist ! SynpaseDirect also offers remote backup, but I haven't tried it yet.
Yes, the major problem is that backup needs to be done, and if it's not automated, it just won't get done. Offsite backup is also a HIPAA requirement.
I get Acronis 9 to do incremental backups at 3am everyday on my \patients\ directory. It stores the backups in the "Secure Zone" which is a hidden partition of the Hard Drive. Works well thus far. I still do episodic entire system images. That can be automated as well.
Sure. Agreed. A good backup plan needs lots of options. Hard drives fail, but this is mostly for file corruption/deletion/me screwing things up/virus minces the files kinda problems. Plus, it's easy.
